Title: Under That Blue Sky
Pairing: Riku/Dawn
Summary: At first she doesn't know where the thought comes from, just like she doesn't know where he comes from or why he always wears that thick, dark cloak, even in the height of summer.
Disclaimer: I don't own Pokemon or Kingdom Hearts.
Notes: No idea where this came from, or when I even wrote it. I was just flipping through my notebook one day, looking for stuff I needed to type up, and came across this. I vaguely remember being in the mood for crossovers when I wrote this, but that was about it. Anyways. It's a little weird, but better than it was before I edited it. Besides, it's almost Christmas and then it'll be New Year's, and I have a lot of stuff from this year still lying around. I need to get that stuff posted sometime.

Under That Blue Sky
"It's the same sky," he says. "Wherever you are."

She half-turns to him, a barely noticed shift. "Is it?" she asks, humoring him. He's like this, always like this, always saying strange things that she doesn't completely understand, always lost in his own thoughts, his own world. He confuses her, really, and she wishes she knew the right things to say to him when he says things like that.

"Yeah," he replies. "Always."

The sun is shining on where they lay, a grassy hillside bright and vivid. Her Pokemon are fast asleep in the warmth of that sun.

She doesn't know much about him. He's a traveler, just like her, but different. He doesn't have any Pokemon, and she gets the feeling that he's been much farther than she can imagine, because his travels weigh him down like a stone to a leaf, and no matter how far she's walked there's always been a breeze to carry her.

"What if," she says, suddenly, "there's a place where it's not the same?" At first she doesn't know where the thought comes from, just like she doesn't know where he comes from or why he always wears that thick, dark cloak, even in the height of summer. Then it comes to her. She thinks of the Distortion World, where everything's twisted and wrong in a way she can't describe, and still her heart twists with pity for Cyrus, willingly trapped in such a place. That place— it doesn't matter what he thinks, it's so different that she knows that what he says can't be right.

"It is. Even when it's crawling with darkness, it's still the same sky."

He says this with such conviction that she can't bring herself to argue. She doesn't understand, not really, and she knows that he doesn't expect her to either. That's all she really knows about him— that, and the way the tenseness leaves him the longer he stays there, with her.

In the end, she supposes, that's all she really needs to know to enjoy these moments.
