Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
More, I suppose. I wrote about 35 fics this year, which is a hell of a lot more than I usually do. That pleases me. I did make a goal to write fifty pieces of fic this year, but I honestly never thought I'd get anywhere close to it. But I ended up being well over halfway there. I'm pretty happy with what I've done.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2010?
Well, there are quite a bit of fandoms in there I wouldn't have expected just because I had never even heard of them before this year! (Princess Debut, The Mayor of Casterbridge, & Perfect World would go under that category.) But, in the end, I suppose that the Star Ocean 03 one is the most unexpected, mostly because I swore to never touch the game again and to hate it for all of eternity. (By the way, I still do hate the elements of the plot that made me make that swear. I just learned to love everything else about it.)
What's your favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest.
Most Fun To Write: I enjoyed quite a few of them. Once, We Were is one of my favorite fics I wrote this year. It came out like a dream. Others I really enjoyed writing were Tribulations of the Dead (which I ramble about below), Spring, Summer, Fall, Falling Through Silk, and (im)perfection. Oh, and I can't forget Uncommon Dreams. That one was pretty amazing as well, in terms of writing it.
Favorite To Read: Tribulations of the Dead, hands down. This is a bit narcissic of me, but I'm always going back to read it over and over. I just really love how it came out. For once, a story came out the way it was in my head.
Greatest Sense Of Accomplishment: It's a tie between Tribulations of the Dead, Tarnished Sunlight, and the fic for the
pokeprompts's Christmas fic exchange that I haven't posted yet. (The identities of the author of each story is currently hidden, so of course I couldn't reveal it.) All three of those I feel are some of my best work ever. I talked enough about Tribulations of the Dead above, but as for the other two, well. Tarnished Sunlight came out much better than I expected, and I really like the idea behind it. And then the
pokeprompts one. I'll go more in depth when I post it, but in short, I've never worked harder on a fanfic in my entire life. I spent two days doing nothing but writing it, and then half of another day doing my final edits. And the result was so worth all the difficulty. Plus, it netted me some of the most amazing compliments I've ever gotten on anything in my entire life, so.
Oh! I can't believe I forgot this one. Once, We Were made me ridiculously happy as well.
Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them?
The
pokeprompts I did a lot of things I never did before. (I'll come back and add more detail here when the authors are revealed.) Oh, and I suppose I should mention Vermillion. Never actually wrote drabbles that were exactly 100 words before, and I've never started a drabble series before either.
Do you have any fanfic or profilic goals for the new year?
I love making goals. I fail them just as often, but whatever.
1. Write the Pokemon fic for
apocabigbang before the deadline.
2. Write all the plotted fic for
au_bingo before the deadline.
3. Finish two fragments (at the edge of the world).
4. Finish Skyward Bound
5. Start some of the other multi-chapters that I've already planned out.
6. Actually try to write 50 pieces of fanfiction, since I almost did it without trying this year.
7. finally, just keep writing & never stop.
