Title: all but the reason why
Pairing: Loki/Sif, kind of
Wordcount: 200
Summary: Despite what some may have thought, anger was not an emotion Sif was on familiar terms with.
Disclaimer: I don't own Thor in any shape or form.
Notes: Posted as a part of my quest to get all unposted fic I have off of my labtop because, really, this is getting ridiculous. I wrote this after watching Thor for the first or second time, when I was thinking about Sif and how she both does and does not fit into the warrior-woman archtype.

all but the reason why

Despite what some may have thought, anger was not an emotion Sif was on familiar terms with. Just because she was a maiden warrior did not mean that she went through her days fierce and stern, did not mean that her blood roared with fury as she clashed with stronger foes. Her blood did sing when she fought, true enough— but with joy, that same fierce excitement that shined in the eyes of any other warrior of Asgard. She fought not out of anger or hate but out of love, love for the fight and the challenges she met on the battlefield.

But when she slowly knelt before Loki, sitting there on his father's throne, it was not anticipation that sent her blood rushing through her veins. And when she listened to his words, to his refusal to return Thor— his brother, the brother that may have been a bit dim and reckless but who had always loved Loki fiercely— it was not joy that clenched her jaw tight.

Her anger was sharp and hot, and when she lifted her head to meet Loki's eyes, she hoped that was what he saw in them, and not the hurt and betrayal lurking underneath.
